Understanding The Process
Americans are very independent people. We work hard and have an enormous amount of freedom. As we age, or if we become ill, our world can start to become smaller. We cannot do the things we once did for ourselves or we exhaust ourselves doing “chores.” Seniors especially do not have the energy to enjoy the things they used to enjoy. With stress it’s common to lose interest in once-enjoyable activities and we find it harder to get through the day. Over-work and over-worry about how each day is going to unfold effects every aspect of our lives, including appetite, sleep, and relationships.
Care extends outside the home, also. Our caregivers can provide transportation for errands, doctor’s visits and social outings.
How does it work?
- The process starts when you call the Caring Hearts of Rochester office and speak with one of our Members.
- They will find out about your family’s needs and answer any questions you may have.
- You’ll also learn about our many services, their associated costs, and how to schedule a caregiver.
- If you are ready to talk about a specific plan for yourself or a loved one, we’ll set an appointment for an assessment.
- It’s free and there is no obligation. You may also request information through this website on the “Contact Us” page.
Why do you do an assessment visit? Can’t I just call whenever I need help?
Caring Hearts of Rochester is insured and licensed. This ensures quality and consistency for you. We do an assessment visit for a couple of reasons: To be sure you get all the information needed to make the right decision, and in order to create a plan that works well for you and your family. We can start service as soon as the next day or whenever you may need us in the future.
Are there a minimum number of hours I have to sign-up for?
There is no minimum. However, if you schedule three or more hours for a visit, you get a discount. There is no contract, no long-term commitment, and you may cancel service at any time with three days notice for hourly, and a week notice for live-in. Many Caring Hearts of Rochester clients have a caregiver for a few hours twice a week, some only during the night, others only on weekends or up to 24/7. At Caring Hearts of Rochester, we are flexible and happy to provide care wherever and whenever needed. This includes hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living communities, and group homes. The advantage of care over an assisted living facility or nursing home is that you can get and pay for exactly what you want on your schedule and if your needs change, we change right along with you!
How do I know who you will send to my home?
Our care coordinators get to know you and your family personally and will be sure you always know who your caregiver is going to be. We make every effort to assign the same caregiver to you or your loved one when you have a repeating schedule. If for any reason you would like a different caregiver, we are happy to work with you to find the right person. We guarantee you will be happy at Caring Hearts of Rochester!
Our caregivers are insured, and receive on-going training.
What can I expect the caregiver to do when they come to my home?
After we do the care assessment we create a care plan that includes the services you want. The plan may include:
- Cooking and light housekeeping
- Laundry and change of bed linens
- Grocery shopping and errands
- Companionship and range of motion exercise
- Transportation to doctor appointments, supermarket, pharmacy
- Status reporting to family
- Medication reminders
If what you need on any day is not on your plan, feel free to ask the caregiver to perform the task for you. We will add it to your plan in the future.
There are a couple of things we don’t do such as deep cleaning. So, if you need the bathroom tiles scrubbed, snow shoveled, or windows cleaned we will be glad to refer you to a trusted partner we know will do a good job for you. Also, we are not a medical agency so we do not change bandages or treat wounds. If you need this kind of care, we know of other companies that can help.
What do I do if there is a problem with the caregiver or I need to change the schedule?
Just call us!
We only have one telephone number and you will reach a live person 24/7 who can help you with whatever you need.
Call Caring Hearts of Rochester at 585-245-0134 to see how we can help you solve your problems. Do it for yourself and your loved one. If you are thinking about it, you need as much information as possible from experienced, caring people. You’ll find them at Caring Hearts of Rochester.

Grandma’s caregiver brings so much joy to her life. She enjoys the conversation and the time they spend together. She has helped Grandma continue to be independent and allowed me to feel secure in knowing that she is well cared for. Without Katie, Grandma’s quality of life and level of joy would be much less.

I have been working with Caring Hearts of Rochester for three and a half years. I am so very grateful for the wonderful care they provide to my mom. I live out of state and used to worry about mom all day long. I no longer worry about mom, ever! I visit quite frequently and enjoy the conversation & companionship of the caregivers. Mom’s caregivers see her daily and they help her with everything from cooking and cleaning to bathing and shopping. They are kind, compassionate, loving and have truly become family to mom and me. We thank God for our truly perfect situation and we thank Caring Hearts of Rochester for providing me with peace of mind and mom exceptional care. I appreciate your kindness very much. Thank you, thank you thank you!

My mother doesn’t live nearby so I wanted someone to be with her a few days a week while I was at work. I have peace of mind knowing a responsible and kind caregiver is with her when I can’t be. Thank you very much for your wonderful care of mom.

When my husband returned home from the hospital, you met us with the caregiver at our home to ensure everything went smoothly. This personal introduction to our caregiver brought about an easy relationship for all of us. Since then we have really become close to her and we appreciate all that she does for our family. We continue to recommend Caring Hearts to close friends and relatives requiring assistance. Thank you!
