Meet the Owners

As the founder and hands-on managers of Caring Hearts of Rochester, we would like to thank you for this opportunity to tell you about our passion. We are responsible for the services we offer; for the people that we hire; for the training they receive and for the quality and reliability of the services our team delivers to you and your loved ones.

John and Meredith Hunt

After graduating from Pittsford Mendon High school, John started his career in social work on the west coast, working with the adolescent population with individuals who have moderate to severe psychiatric/emotional/behavioral difficulties. He developed an interest in working with individuals with dementia and cognitive challenges. He wrote and implemented a treatment program for Early-Onset Schizophrenia. This program developed exposure and interest and became the first nationally-promoted residential program for Early-Onset Schizophrenia in North America and has been duplicated in hospital and residential care environments world-wide.

John spent a lot of his early career promoting awareness and education concerning Early-Onset cognitive issues, speaking and teaching at various events and symposiums throughout the United States. He later got his MBA and moved into business development in Healthcare and Financial Services and spent much of his life ‘on the road.’ In 2006 he relocated back to Rochester with his wife, Meredith.

Meredith was an avid athletic and academic in what used to be called Sperry High School in Rush-Henrietta. She went to Syracuse University where she studied Accounting and rowed for Crew. She started out working for Sam’s Club in Accounts Receivable and focused on starting a family. She later got into sales and worked in both the Tire and Automotive Industry, selling business to business, working her way up to the top sales position allowing her to open new territories throughout Upstate NY. Her hard work and dedication to others helped her find success in the business world and led the way to what would become a natural progression into customer service, serving in the home care field, mostly working with Seniors.

John and Meredith have 4 wonderful children, all of which currently reside in Rochester. Having both been family caregivers, they found an interest in home care. Upon completion of many hours of education and hands on training they now have their respective places in Caring Hearts of Rochester. They have been involved in the community with the Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Foundation and are active volunteers in the community and their Church.

Meredith was a Breast Cancer Survivor and had been a volunteer with Better Day Buddies, serving the younger population challenged with the struggles related to Cancer.

Update July, 2019:

In July of 2019 after a 5 year battle with Breast Cancer, Meredith lost the battle and passed away peacefully with her family by her side. A terrible loss for her family and our family here at Caring Hearts. John and Meredith know what it is like to work with a nursing and home care company.

Although Meredith has left us in this world, her contributions and her memory will long live with us here at Caring Hearts of Rochester.

Caring Hearts of Rochester started providing home care services in 2011. Today we serve families all over Monroe, Ontario and Wayne Counties and employee many loving caregivers. Whether you need assistance for just a few hours a week or up to 24 hours/day, Caring Hearts is ready to assist.

Grandma’s caregiver brings so much joy to her life. She enjoys the conversation and the time they spend together. She has helped Grandma continue to be independent and allowed me to feel secure in knowing that she is well cared for. Without Katie, Grandma’s quality of life and level of joy would be much less.

I have been working with Caring Hearts of Rochester for three and a half years. I am so very grateful for the wonderful care they provide to my mom. I live out of state and used to worry about mom all day long. I no longer worry about mom, ever! I visit quite frequently and enjoy the conversation & companionship of the caregivers. Mom’s caregivers see her daily and they help her with everything from cooking and cleaning to bathing and shopping. They are kind, compassionate, loving and have truly become family to mom and me. We thank God for our truly perfect situation and we thank Caring Hearts of Rochester for providing me with peace of mind and mom exceptional care. I appreciate your kindness very much. Thank you, thank you thank you!

My mother doesn’t live nearby so I wanted someone to be with her a few days a week while I was at work. I have peace of mind knowing a responsible and kind caregiver is with her when I can’t be. Thank you very much for your wonderful care of mom.

I am very pleased that I chose Caring Hearts of Rochester for my father. They are truly committed to their care and the high integrity of their staff completely puts me at ease. I don’t worry about dad like I used to because I know that he is taken great care of each day. I am so thankful for your services and the two caregivers that see him during the week.

When my husband returned home from the hospital, you met us with the caregiver at our home to ensure everything went smoothly. This personal introduction to our caregiver brought about an easy relationship for all of us. Since then we have really become close to her and we appreciate all that she does for our family. We continue to recommend Caring Hearts to close friends and relatives requiring assistance. Thank you!
